PROJECTS

The activities of the Comics Workshop have expanded over time and today they are present not only in the Saturday course classes, but also in other projects linked to the Federal University of Ceará.

COMICS AS A SPACE FOR CONVERGENCE BETWEEN THE ARTS
The project “The Comics as a Convergence Space between the Arts” was created in 2014 and has a very specific proposal: to seek to analyze and experiment with the language of comics in its relationship with other artistic forms. The idea for this project comes from the work “Los Lenguajes del Cómic”, by Italian researcher Daniele Barbieri, who defends the notion that languages are environments within which human beings move, according to what each environment (that is, each language) allows in terms of communicability. During the FUC University Meetings, the project offers a 3-day mini-course focused on the convergence of comics and the other arts.
FOTOCOMIX: THE INTERACTION BETWEEN QUADRINE LANGUAGE AND PHOTOGRAPHY
The “Fotocomix” project emerged from an experience developed during the 2015 University Meetings, a workshop to study the aesthetic possibilities of using comic book language with photographic language (which follows on from the initial proposal of the cultural project “The Comics as a Form Convergence of the Arts”). Thus, the project intends to discuss what photography can offer to the field of comics by replacing drawings (handmade or computerized) with photographs. Fotocomix has already been carried out in the form of a 3-day mini-course, a course lasting one semester and finally incorporated into the regular Workshop.
