COMIC WORKSHOP - UFC
About Us
Founded in 1985 by Professor Geraldo Jesuíno in the then Social Communication course at the Federal University of Ceará, the FUC Comics Workshop has collected many stories to tell in over 30 years of existence. Reactivated by Professor Ricardo Jorge in 2004 after a 4-year hiatus, the Workshop was updated and, from a simple gathering of university students to design and produce comics, it became a 1-year course, structured in modules with a theoretical basis on the 9th art and establishing itself as one of the main breadbaskets of comic artists in Ceará.

We are an extension project of Social Communication courses at the Federal University of Ceará where students learn the various aspects of creating a comic book. We cover everything from the basic notions of drawing to the technique of writing scripts and layout of pages, up to the final stage of production and publication.
The Comics Workshop classes always take place on Saturday mornings, at the FUC Humanities Center II (Benfica Campus) and are divided into the following didactic modules:
Script:Story writing, narrative techniques, script adaptation, etc.
Drawing:Basics of different drawing styles, backgrounds, dynamic figures, artwork, etc.
Quadrinization:Notions of frames and frames, layout, cinematographic framing, etc.
Production and publication:Practices and publication in different formats and platforms.
